Greenville Remodeling Trends Report
Curious what your friends and neighbors are calling us about? We were too – so we analyzed all 1,427 of our remodeling inquiries over the past 3 years. Here's what Greenville’s homeowners want the most!
#1 Requested Project in Greenville: Home Additions
Our data showed a clear winner. Greenville homeowners requested Home Additions more than any other project type, outperforming kitchens and bathrooms by a wide margin. This might come as a surprise, but some unique context in Greenville’s real estate scene is influencing this trend. It turns out homeowners don’t actually want a different house—they want to make their current house work better for their lifestyle.
Why the Demand for Additions?
Many people moved or refinanced in 2020 and locked in a 3% interest rate or lower, making it nearly impossible to justify moving, though some of those families are now outgrowing their homes. Instead, folks are choosing to add on, making their current home work for their family and investing in the home’s long-term value.
Another factor is remote work. For those who require a dedicated Home Office to work from home, an additional bedroom or workspace is a non-negotiable. Usually, Older Homes on the market were not built with this extra room in mind.

#2 Requested Project in Greenville: Whole Home Remodels
Our second most-requested project is Whole-Home Remodels. Homeowners now view remodeling as a long-term investment in their home rather than a series of individual projects – and often, this approach makes sense. Not only is it more cost-effective to complete projects all at once, but it also allows you to enjoy those updates sooner.
Why Remodel All At Once?
One reason the demand for whole-home remodels is high is that Greenville’s more established neighborhoods are aging. Homes in highly desirable areas like Augusta Road, North Main, Overbrook, Gower Park, Sugar Mill, and Parkins Mill were built over 50 years ago now. The majority of these homes haven’t been updated, so when they hit the market, they’re in need of more than a “refresh”.

#3 Requested Projects in Greenville: Kitchens & Baths
Tied for 3rd, Kitchen Remodels (11%) and Bathroom Remodels (12%) were neck and neck. While large-scale whole-home projects might be trending, these high-impact areas will always require thoughtful personalization. Each family uses their kitchen and bathrooms differently, making storage and layout updates essential.
Why Are Kitchen Remodels So Popular?
Many older kitchens were built with a smaller footprint and limited storage compared to kitchens today. The kitchen is the place where friends and family gather, so homeowners want a space that’s built for hosting. A number of our kitchen projects are centered around designing a better flow through the room for hosts and guests alike.

Why Focus on Remodeling the Bathroom?
