Woodruff Fixer Upper
BEFORE
When a Local Business Owners bought this 1960s home in Spartanburg County, they knew this house needed a lot of love. It was a tri-level 2,200 square foot home situated on a large property – the perfect location for hunting grounds – but the inside was unliveable. Every part of the home was still fitted with the bold, dated colors, patterns, and textures of the 60’s. Our clients had started the demo themselves but realized this project would be more extensive than imagined. They called our team to help them design a fully developed solution and complete the project.
GOALS
DESIGN
Our team centered the project around those goals, and ultimately answered every single one with the proposed remodel plan. The new layout swapped the location of the kitchen and opened up the space into the living area. Upstairs, we expanded the Primary Suite by combining two bedrooms. In the basement, we defined the large room into a bedroom, bathroom, closet, and mudroom that would function as an In-Law Suite.
The homeowners wanted a modern feel with mostly neutral grays. Their selections featured a variety of earthy tones, natural granites, and wood textures. We incorporated the Family Farmhouse Beams as an accent and a transitional element from kitchen to living space. The homeowners also decided to add an outdoor living space to the design.
DEMO & BUILD
We kicked off the project by completing the demo work through the rest of the home. From there, our team installed new sheetrock, recessed lighting, flooring, and trim. They framed and built out the outdoor living space, which featured a vaulted roof and a custom stone fireplace. The rotten wood siding on the front of the home was replaced with composite shake siding. A new roof & gutters topped off the exterior.
Back inside, cabinets, tile, and countertops were going in. Paint and hardware are always the favorite final touches, but we can’t forget all the small tasks that must be completed: toe kicks, exhaust fans, gutters, HVAC returns, handrails, vanity lights, and much more.
COMPLETED
Another remodel complete! The Homeowners are extremely satisfied with their transformed home. It has everything they wanted – an updated aesthetic, expanded Primary Suite, In-Law Suite, and a fresh modern look outside. Some of our favorite features are the beautiful Cambria Bentley island in the kitchen and the custom masonwork fireplace outside. Touches like this are what makes a house truly your home.
