Luxury Kitchen Remodel
This family had several “pain points” in their kitchen and wanted to completely rework the space. As a custom builder, we provided unique solutions to each issue, from traffic flow to storage solutions. Walk through their journey from lacking to lux!
The Problem
The home's original, closed-off kitchen was not working for this busy family of five! With friends and family in and out, the layout was just too tight. Original to the 2004 home, the space was starting to look its age. The raised panel cabinetry and brown granite countertops leaned toward a traditional look that no longer fit our client’s style. The cabinets stopped before the ceiling, missing a key storage opportunity. The tiny island offered just enough space to get in the way.
Planning & Construction
We walked our client through a variety of options, styles, and budgets. Once the budget and selections were established, we dove in head first with demo. Everything came out, including a load-bearing wall that separated the kitchen and living room. This required a structural beam to be installed, bearing the weight from the second floor above. We framed up the new doorway and finished rough-ins (Plumbing, Gas, HVAC & Electrical). Next, drywall went up, and the floors were refinished to match throughout.
The Details
Our carpenters created a custom multi-piece crown build-up to coordinate with existing trim profiles. An HVAC register was inconveniently located next to the new kitchen island. We rerouted the HVAC and installed a flush mount register to minimize discomfort when sliding the new kitchen stools. We are proud of our ability to recognize and work through details like these at Ferguson Builders!
Progress & Features
The kitchen started to gain a new personality as we installed custom floor-to-ceiling White Oak cabinets. These create a stunning wall of pure storage and feature a custom coffee bar. A Kensington Del Conca tile backsplash and Quartzite countertops offer a polished, luxurious feel. The large island provides more seating than the original bar top. Finally, Benjamin Moore’s Anchor Gray adds a bold, modern pop of color.
Other Features in this Luxury Kitchen Remodel:
Built-In Coffee Maker
Wall-Mounted Potfiller
Built-In Panel-Ready Refrigerator
Custom Metalwork Hood
Open Shelving
Statement Light Fixtures
Finishing Touches
Additionally, our team refinished the floors, staircase, and fireplace. The attached dining room was refaced as well with a stunning decorative Harlequin wallpaper. Functionally, the new design feels more open, flows better, and maximizes storage space. We were excited to produce a unique space perfectly tailored to this energetic family!
