Kitchen Remodel in Taylors, SC
Some of our favorite projects are the mid-sized remodels that end up making the biggest difference! This home in Taylors, SC, was very special to the owner, who had been planning this remodel for a long time. She had saved inspiration from magazines and catalogs and had created a folder for us before we walked in the door. She was so excited to finally make this space her own!
The Reason for the Remodel
Our client was frustrated with a kitchen layout that she had been making do with for years. Like many ranch-style homes, the kitchen was closed off from the living area and the rest of the house, making it feel cramped, especially when hosting her family. Due to the small size of the kitchen, there was limited cabinet and countertop space. We talked through these issues and nailed down these three goals.
Project Goals
Design
We worked through our Professional Services Agreement to provide our client with floorplans, renderings, and an accurate fixed price. We designed a number of options for this client between $80k and $150k. The client settled on a design at the upper end of that range and within their original desired investment.
Demo
Once the construction contract was signed, we made selections, ordered materials, and began the demolition! The demo included removing a wall in between the kitchen and living room, in addition to moving the location of the door to the garage. Throughout the project, we used zip-walls, HEPA air filters, and floor protection to minimize the impact of construction on our client’s day-to-day life as she lived in the home through the remodel.
Rough-Ins & Installations
After a few weeks of demo and prep work, it was time to start putting things back together! Over the next two months, we installed tile, trim, and all-new semi-custom cabinets. We added even more storage with a wall of built-in cabinets in the dining room. Then, we moved on to countertops, paint, backsplash, light fixtures, and hardware. This is where everything really started to come together!
Above & Beyond
As the project wrapped up, our client was sad to see our team leave! She even gave an awesome gift basket to the carpenter who worked on her project for all eight weeks. Nathan truly exemplified our core values throughout the remodel and in the care he took with our client’s home. We truly have the best clients, and we love to see our team serve them so well!
The Final Result
Our client is overjoyed with her newly renovated kitchen. It is now bigger, brighter, and better in every way! The kitchen has a calming color palette, ample storage, and a new peninsula island with additional seating. Other details include a window bench, built-in soap dispenser, under-cabinet lighting, and much more!
From the Homeowner
“The entire staff at Ferguson Builders was professional and respectful of my home and property. The entire process, from beginning to end, was smooth and organized. I was able to see the work schedule through their website Buildertrend, as well as see photos taken and uploaded of each stage of the build. Each morning Nathan would go over what he would get accomplished for that day. At the end of the day, he would clean and organize inside to get ready for the next day. He would even blow off my driveway of any dust. It was so nice getting to know him, and I enjoyed our conversations. I highly recommend Ferguson Builders! I am so completely happy with my new kitchen. I look at my old kitchen photos and cannot believe the transformation; its like out of a magazine! Thanks to Bruce and the entire team!”
